New architecture and project management collective is largest regionally based team in QLD

Two of Queensland’s most highly regarded regional architecture firms have joined forces to meet the growing demand for innovative design excellence and seamless project management services across the state and further afield.

Recently, the Sunshine Coast’s Ken Down Architects (KDA) merged with Toowoomba-based firm Aspect to provide a comprehensive suite of services ranging from architectural and interior design through to start-to-finish project management.

The merger of the award-winning firms combines 70 years of operation between KDA, founded by architect Ken Down, and Aspect, headed by managing director Graham Secombe.

Mr Down said the ethos and services offered by each firm were highly compatible and the joining of forces would create valuable synergies for clients and staff alike.

“It’s exciting to be pooling our collective knowledge and experience to capitalise on the diversity of larger scale project work available across Queensland and interstate,” Mr Down said.

“Most importantly, because each business shares the same passion for innovation and building trusted relationships, we can continue to exceed our clients’ expectations in design, functionality and project delivery.

“Our clients have also been receptive to hear about our expanded capabilities across every aspect of a development, from concept to completion.”

Mr Secombe said he is intent on growing the Sunshine Coast team to help build on the existing professionalism in the region.

“One of the undeniable benefits for the Sunshine Coast is that to assist with servicing the many projects needed to sustain our insatiable appetite for growth, the group has taken the approach of moving high level professional people to the region,” Mr Secombe said.

“With projects on the go from Cairns to Hobart, our combined team of designers and project managers are truly excited about where this new chapter will take them.”

The collective now constitutes the largest regionally based professional architecture and project management consultancy team in Queensland.

The individual entities have been involved in many of the projects that have shaped our day-to-day lives. They are now set to continue this trend as a unified collaborative with an extended pool of resources.

KDA has designed a large number of landmark developments on the Sunshine Coast and further afield, including the Mooloolaba Surf Club renovation, Siena Catholic College, Australia Zoo Crocoseum, Sunshine Coast Turf Club racetrack buildings, the Sunshine Plaza Riverwalk and cinema complex, and Maroochydore’s Mercedes Benz showroom.

Aspect has predominantly made its presence felt across Darling Downs and the South West, with many similar Commercial, Residential, Education, Health and Government projects.

With offices in Mooloolaba, Toowoomba and Brisbane, Aspect and KDA will continue to focus on commercial, residential, government and public buildings both regionally and nationally.
