Flame Tree Pocket welcomes first residents

November 27, 2015

After selling out the first four stages in record time, Sippy Downs residential development Flame Tree Pocket is welcoming the first of over 450 residents expected to call the community home, with first-home owners Andrew Robilliard and Seanne Winter receiving the keys to their new three-bedroom house.

Mr Robilliard, who originally hails from South Africa and has been living on the Sunshine Coast for the past two years, said he and his partner had opted for buying in the Flame Tree Pocket community based on its value for money and sought-after location within the growing Sippy Downs area.

“For us, it proved much more cost-effective to purchase our own home than to continue renting in the current market,” Mr Robilliard said.

“The future vision for Sippy Downs also really appealed to us, so we’re keen to see the transformation unfold over the coming months and years and to be a part of the action.”

“I think one of the strongest drawcards for us was the suburb’s centrality; while we have so many amenities at our fingertips, we’re also able to easily access main roads and motorways so it takes no time to get to the beach or even head down to Brisbane.”

Reed Property Group CEO Jay Emmerton said he was delighted to welcome Flame Tree Pocket’s first residents and looked forward to seeing the community come to life over the coming weeks as construction continues on stages one and two.

“It’s great to see first home owners entering the market and we’re looking forward to continuing to service this market with Flame Tree Pocket’s house and land options,” Mr Emmerton said.

“With rental vacancies remaining tight and weekly rents on the incline, it’s no surprise many Sunshine Coast residents have turned their attention to purchasing property and stepping out of the rental market.”

Mr Emmerton said figures showed that more than $14 million in Great Start Grants — a $15,000 government-funded incentive to buy or build a new home — had been awarded to first home buyers on the Sunshine Coast.

“The Sunshine Coast is certainly seeing its fair share of buyers taking advantage of this offering, with close to 1,000 applications having been approved since the initiative launched in 2012,” Mr Emmerton said.

“We have already seen several first-home owners take advantage of what Flame Tree Pocket has on offer and we expect this number will continue to rise as the demand for affordable housing escalates on the Coast.”

Mr Emmerton said less than a year after launching Stage One of the development, Reed Property Group was now selling allotments in Stage 4b, which indicated just how strong demand for land and housing in the area has been recently.

“Our experience over the last few months has indicated buyers are very much on the hunt for value for money house and land packages that are close to parks, shops and schools, and we’re seeing a lot of interest from young couples and families looking to purchase their first home,” Mr Emmerton said.

“With limited allotments remaining in Stage 4b, we plan to fast track the release of Stage Five — our final stage — to early December.”

Mr Emmerton said Stage Five would consist of 31 allotments in a range of sizes, with pricing commencing from $199,000 and an average price of $243,000.

“This stage will be bordered by a vegetation corridor to the south, providing allotments with privacy and a bush backdrop.”

“Our builder partners will also be offering house and land packages priced from $390,000-$600,000.”
