2019 Gymnastics Queensland Trampoline State Championships

Almost 150 high-flying trampoline gymnasts will jump into action this weekend for the 2019 Trampoline State Championships being held at Victoria Park Gymnastics & Trampoline Club in Rockhampton on 6 and 7 April.

Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kym Dowdell said athletes from 10 clubs would compete in the dynamic and exhilarating gymnastics discipline.

“Trampoline is a brilliant spectator sport with airborne athletes jumping, somersaulting, twisting and turning on a variety of apparatus,” Ms Dowdell said.

“This meet will feature a number of high calibre trampoline competitors who will be vying for places on state and national teams, so competition is certain to be fierce.”

International double mini-trampoline gymnast Carina Hagarty, from Robertson Gymnastics Centre, will start her selection campaign for the 2019 World Championships with the weekend’s event being the first qualifier for selection to the Gymnastics Australia National Senior Team.

Already a national training squad member with the experience of 2018 World Open championships under her belt, Carina Hagarty has her sights set on another national cap.

“The State Championships will give Carina the opportunity to unveil her new set of four passes so she can achieve the national qualifying scores she requires,” Ms Dowdell said.

“She’ll be joined by Gymnastics Queensland Trampoline High Performance training squad members Hannah Spidy-Brown, Samuel Durkin & Matthaeus Grieves who are all expected to feature highly in their respective events.

“I wish all these amazing athletes the very best of luck for the competition and encourage the community to come along and enjoy the spectacle.

“Gymnastics is a fantastic spectator sport and the Trampoline State Championships offers a great day out where some of Queensland’s best trampoline gymnasts will showcase their dedication and skill in the sport.

“If you’re looking for an entertaining weekend, this event is not to be missed.”
